Which book topped the best seller lists the year you were born?

Imagine my surprise when I found the 1988 chart topper on my shelf! I found this 25th anniversary special edition while thrifting for books last year - in the Classics section. I'm highly offended, haha! 

I guess it's a "Modern Classic." Does this mean I'm a Modern Classic too?
