I'm so thankful to everyone who has joined me here since my launch a few weeks ago. I'm really hopeful that we can build this up into a robust bookish community!

As a Bindery Tastemaker, I'm able to offer perks to the members of my page as well as bonus perks to those who choose to support me by joining one of the paid membership tiers. I realize that everyone's situation is different and committing to a monthly membership fee is not something everyone can do, so please know that I am so grateful you're here, even at the Follower level.

Today, I wanted to share a few things you can look forward to as a member of my Bindery community!

  • You Can Sit with Us Book Club: We will be reading primarily romance, fantasy, and romantic fantasy, focusing on new-ish releases. I plan to alternate genres each month and focus on indie authors a significant amount of the time. TCSWU Book Club will be run asynchronously through Discord, so make sure you join via the link on my page so that your membership information syncs.

August's book pick is A Tangled Magic and I am so excited because the author has agreed to a Q&A session exclusively for our book club! I am hopeful to be able to connect with authors for Q&As on a regular basis. I will also be hosting monthly Zoom calls for members who enjoy live discussions!

  • Games: Bindery Bingo begins on September 1st! I will be sharing a seasonal Bingo card with instructions on how to play once the start date gets closer. Open to all Followers!

  • Giveaways: I will be sharing a Bindery exclusive giveaway in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Inner Circle and Producer level members will receive bonus giveaway entries!

  • Industry Chats/Podcast Episodes: I'm very excited about this perk! It is very much in the works, but I am lining up a handful of authors and bookish folks to share their stories with our community. Access will likely be available at the Inner Circle subscription level.

That's it for today, friends! There are so many cool features here on Bindery, I hope you'll spend some time exploring. I plan on sharing a post with some of my favorite features soon!

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will do my best to find the answers!

July was a Whole MOOD!
July was a Whole MOOD!

July was a whole MOOD and I can't say I'm going to miss it. Trying to balance having a kiddo on summer break while not being on break from school myself is NOT for the faint of heart. Hence, I give you my shortest wrap-up list of the year. I also felt like 5 ⭐ ratings were just out of reach this month, but I honestly think it was me (the MOOD, ya know?). It's hard to fully enjoy a book when your reading time is so fragmented. I will say that MOST were 4-4.5 ⭐s, so if you're looking for recs, this is absolutely a great stack to draw from! One thing that has been bringing me immense joy is my new book counter from @3legant_designs! I first saw their stuff at #BigOhioBookCon, but had so much analysis paralysis that it took me several months to order my own. (Once again - MOOD!) Eva was so kind and offered custom recs in my DMs and has been putting up with my shenanigans ever since. Do yourself a favor and grab your own! Books featured: Iceland Annie @anniethorisdottir The Stargazer of Nantucket @juliegerstenblatt Calm the Carols @adeline_aimes_author The Burning Side @sarahdamoff Left of Forever @authortarahdewitt I See You've Called In Dead @johnkenneywriter The Song of Achilles @madeline.e.miller The Girl Upstairs @jessicarpatch A Stage Set for Villains @shannonjspann Our Sister's Keeper @jasminelholmes 🗨️ What's your favorite bookish trinket, accessory, or decoration? I am beyond excited to be sharing this announcement with you! I am bringing the community vibes of the You Can Sit with Us event page to my very first online BOOK CLUB!

I've enjoyed leading as well as being a member of a few different in-person book clubs over the last three years, but, as grad school demands more of my IRL hours, online has become the ideal setting for book yapping. The launch of my Bindery Books page could not have come at a better time.

What you can expect from YCSWU Book Club:

  • Monthly book pick from one of my favorite genres (romance, fantasy, historical fiction). Most books will be newer releases, and genre will vary from month to month.

  • Private Discord chat for book club members

  • Monthly virtual book club meetings

So, without further ado, I give you the August pick for the You Can Sit with Us Book Club!

Rachael's Review: The Girl Upstairs
Rachael's Review: The Girl Upstairs

The Girl Upstairs by Jessica R. Patch Available Now! Swipe for synopsis ➡️ ➡️ I picked this book up back in April, read the first two chapters, and promptly decided it was meant to be read by a campfire. I had every intention of toting it along with me for our weekends at the camper this summer. Long story short, our camper decided to become the campfire and this book, along with any other camping related plans, fell by the wayside. Thankfully, the book had not made its way to the camper just yet. I am so glad I found my way back to this book before the end of summer! It was a great mix of suspense, spookiness, and family drama. Add in an unreliable narrator and you have the perfect Summerween read that kept me intrigued but didn't require me to sleep with the lights on (which is, for me, a good thing). While several of my suspicions were correct, the layers of "something's not right here" kept me engaged and guessing. If there's one thing that often puts me off of psychological thrillers, it's the deus ex machina plot device, but Jessica did an excellent job of wrapping up all of the different layers in a way that felt very cohesive and satisfying. Save to your TBR if you love: ▪️Unreliable Narrator ▫️Small Town Secrets ▪️True Crime ▫️Ghost Stories Thank you to @jessicarpatch @harlequinbooks @hqn_shamelessromantics and @netgalley for the #gifted eARC and finished copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 🗨️ It's "What are you reading Wednesday!" Share your current read or a book you're hoping to finish before the end of July!
