Last night was so joyful! @cuyahogalib hosted Monica Comas and it was such a pleasure to hear her talk about her book, Recipe for Joy, a novel that was born from a period of intense grief in her life, as so much beautiful art often is. What she found and what we as the readers experience through her characters, however, was joy. Her story is that of a family fractured by loss and the little things that bring them together and allow them to heal. Monica and I connected a few months back after @BookSparks sent me a copy of Recipe for Joy as part of their Spring Reading Challenge Ambassador program, and I am so thankful! Monica's DMs never fail to brighten my day 💕 I am so looking forward to her next book, Upton Retreat which releases in April 2027 and which she described as "Recipe for Joy's younger, wild sister". Sign me up! It was also wonderful to see @taylorreadsincle again and meet his adopted book grandmas! I am continuously amazed by the book community and how stories have the ability to bring together people from all walks of life. Thank you to the Cuyahoga County Public Library and @monicacomaswrites for a great evening. I know it's a trend but...I don't care! I love a variety of genres and sometimes I feel like I don't fit into any one bookish circle, but I can't help what I like! Besides, I thought we weren't "yucking other people's yums" anymore? Reading is for everyone and everyone is different! That's why there are so many amazing books! 🗨️ What's the last book your read that was totally outside of your comfort zone/usual genre that you ended up loving? -or- Share your Current Read! 🏷️ I Hate Your Taste Trend, I Hate Your Taste in Books, Contemporary Romance, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Book Recommendations, Book Club Recommendations, Ohio Bookstagrammer, Book Influencer, Bindery Tastemaker, Simon Book Buddy
🌿🌷The Someday Garden by Ashley Poston🌷🌿 Available Now! Swipe for synopsis ➡️➡️ The Someday Garden was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it absolutely lived up to my expectations, nay, exceeded them. Ashley Poston's magical realism is one of my favorite things and I'm having a hard time liking any book I've read since this one. The character setup is exceptional. The reader learns about each character's backstory while they develop throughout the plot, giving the little dopamine hit that comes with uncovering a plot twist in a thriller. @heyashposton does a great job of revealing the events that brought Sophie, Oliver, and Cyrus back to Lilymoor House while keeping the book in a singular timeline. Emotionally, this book tore right to my core. I only cry at a handful of books each year (I think my 2026 total is 2-3 as of July) and this was one of them. I know this is technically a contemporary romance, and I loved that element of it, but the real impact of this book came from the emotional connections between Sophie and Harrie, her mom, Rus, and several of the incredible side characters. 5 stars is not enough. Last night was amazing! I met up with some friends to celebrate the release of @kaliecassidybooks newest book, In The Wake of the Ruined. I am so excited to dive back into Imogen's world and find out how her story concludes. @jennifermandula was a fantastic conversation partner and her book, The Geomagician, sounds like such a good read. It was so fascinating to hear Kalie talk about her writing process and how her training as an actor translated into her career as a writer in ways she didn't expect. Her next book, which is still pretty under wraps, sounds amazing and look how excited she is about it! A month or so ago, my husband sat down to tell me about a TikTok he'd seen where a husband tried to guess the titles of his wife's books - every now and then I have a little influence over his algorithm 😉 He found it rather amusing and wanted to try it himself. So, I set him up with some books from my July TBR to see how he did. I did give him a hint with the genre, but that's it! Swipe to see his guesses ➡️ Don't worry, he's not quitting his day job to start naming books! 🗨️ Which title (real or imagined) are you adding to your TBR? 🏷️ Husband Guesses Book Titles, July Fiction New Releases, Advanced Reader Copy, ARC Reviewer
June was WILD! It kicked off with Big Ohio Book Con where I did very little reading but met some of my favorite authors as well as some new-to-me writers. I also had such a good time hanging out with my Booksta-turned-IRL friends! Do I still need to publish all the content from that weekend? You bet! My reading felt a little chaotic this month. I DNF'd two books in a row, bringing my DNF total to four for the year. DNFing always seems to throw me into a funk. I Buddy Read three books: The Bright Years, My Friends, and The Last Letter. I definitely enjoyed this and want to make more room in my reading schedule to read with friends! Romance remained my top genre, but not by any kind of landslide - I even snuck a memoir in there! I'm back in class with the start of July, but I'm hoping to stay on top of my reading goals! 🗨️ What's the number one thing that will make you DNF a book? 🏷️ Monthly Reading Wrap Up, June Reading Wrap Up, Romance Recommendations, Fantasy Recommendations, Advanced Reader Copy, Advanced Listening Copy, ARC Reviewer, ALC Reviewer, LibroFM Influencer, Gallery Books Partner, BookSparks Ambassador, Bloomsbury Creator Circle #SRC2026 #TheBookOdyssey
